In India by the end of 2019, Xiaomi sets up to 5,000 offline stores -/SmartHyTech World

The India's largest smartphone vendor, Xiaomi, said on 20 November that 5,000 Mi stores will be set up in rural India by the end of 2019, a move that is expected to generate more than 15,000 jobs.
In 2017, Xiaomi, who entered India and sold exclusively online smartphones, entered the offline retail market. Apart from Mi Preferred Partners, it operates its own Mi Homes chain through a franchise model. "It's been more than a year since we started to offer our products via offline retail and we saw strong growth there... About 4-5 months ago, we started to pilot what we called offline 2.0- Where we are going to level IV, V and beyond, rural India with our offline retail offering, " said Manu Jain, Xiaomi Vice-President and Managing Director of India.
He added that the company had already set up 500 stores under the' Mi Store ' model and will reach 5,000 by the end of 2019.
" These stores can be found in some of the country's most remote corners... We believe this can generate massive employment opportunities with more than 15,000 jobs in these regions, thus boosting my mobile economic output, " he said.
Jain explained that offline retail is still an enormous segment in our country, with almost 40% of the offline market in rural areas.
The company expects to make up half of its smartphone sales by next year through its various efforts.
